To Whom It May Concern:

I made my first trip to Ireland a year ago, but unfortunately was unable to travel to Drimoleague to research my great-grandparents. If anyone has any information for me I would be very grateful. Hopefully I will be able to return and visit Drimoleague in person Ireland is truly beautiful, and everyone was so friendly and helpful!

My father's maternal grandparents were born in or near Drimoleague in the mid-1800s. They were Catholic, and I did research records at the National Library of Ireland.

Patrick Joseph Canty - born around 1838, possibly a blacksmith's helper.

Ellen Mary O'Donovan - born August 1847.

They probably emigrated to the United States around 1865 or so. They ended up in San Francisco, where my grandmother was born in 1875.

(Darn! - If only she had been born in Ireland I could obtain Irish citizenship!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Sincerely yours,

Anne Davis-Gervan - California, USA
