BEING A VOLUNTEER
Being a volunteer is an amazing life changing experience.  Raising the required amount gets you on the trip - It’s amazing once you start to fundraise how many  people will come on board to help you, family friends, work etc.

We have a serious mission to assist the Father Andeweg Institude for the Deaf in Lebanon and this means that every volunteer has to take the goal of the trip seriously.

It will be hard work fundraising for this goal but it will also be great fun with fantastic spirit and good humour. The incentive for our fundraising will be the satisfaction of a first hand visit to the Father Andeweg Institude for the Deaf where your labour and efforts will be rewarded when you see the results in the eyes of the students.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR 2011

You will Fly from Dublin to Beirut via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, our Carrier of Choice.

We will be met at Beirut International Airport where we will be taken to our accommodation in Baabda, which is East of Beirut.

Our accommodation is a large modest house but with loads of character.  You will be assigned a room where you will share with other volunteers.

The accommodation will have all the necessary conveniences including telephone, living-room, cable TV, kitchen and etc.

Someone will be nominated as Chef for the Trip

Our day will start at approx 08:00hrs.am with breakfast.  From there we take a four minute stroll to the Father Andeweg Institute for the deaf, where your assigned work will begin.  The school will be in session during our work, and the children love us to down tools to play with them during their breaks.

At lunch time, we return to our house where Our Nominated Chef will have a meal prepared.  After lunch we return to work until about 18:00hrs. pm.

On returning to the accommodation, we will shower and proceed to a local Restaurant/Pub for dinner.

After dinner, there is time for a shower (if you didn't take it earlier) and rest before heading out to a local pub for some well earned refreshments.

During our stay in Lebanon, we will arrange for our group to see some of the sites including the UN Peace-keeping Area of Operations for any Lebanon Veterans that might join us on the trip.

The currency of Lebanon is the Lira, but US dollars are widely used.

Being a Volunteer with us in Lebanon is really a life changing experience.  You get to see where the money that you have raised is spent.  You can report back to your sponsors with the photographs and stories of how you witnessed their funds being spent and report on the benefits that you have experienced while working in the school.

After all materials for your work is purchased, the balance of any monies raised is handed over to the school in contribution to their running costs.
